Success4Kids plays a leading role in raising community awareness of the need for structured after-school programs. Without our after-school programs, these teenagers, who may not be able to afford a more expensive after-school activity, search for alternative recreation during the time of day that is the most dangerous for teenagers- after school.
Statistically, uninvolved teenagers are more likely to engage in behaviors that put them and others at risk immediately after school dismissal. The lower grade rate in Phoenix High School’s demonstrates the need for programmatic intervention, structure and oversight. All youth (and adult volunteers) commit themselves to a set of standards. They are encouraged to memorize and practice these standards:
Handball is considered by proponents to be “The Perfect Game”. Handball develops cardiovascular endurance, speed, agility, balance, flexibility, hand-eye coordination and strength. Strategy, total concentration and patience are all important elements to successful play.
Handball is a fantastic sport for kids, offering numerous health benefits that contribute to both physical and mental well-being. Here’s why handball is beneficial for health, particularly for kids:
Promotes Teamwork and Social Skills: Handball is an amazing sport, encouraging kids to work together, communicate effectively, and support each other. These skills are vital for social development and future success.
Playing handball regularly helps kids stay fit, enhances their social and cognitive development, and fosters a sense of achievement and teamwork, making it a valuable addition to their healthy lifestyle.
Success4Kids is a dedicated youth outreach organization based in Phoenix, committed to empowering high school students through impactful after-school programs.
Our At-Risk Youth After-School Activity Program
For the past eight years, this program has been fostering personal growth and success among teens through the sport of handball. By providing a safe, engaging, and productive outlet during the critical after-school hours—often considered the most vulnerable time for teenagers—we help students channel their energy toward positive outcomes.
Who We Serve
The program primarily supports high school students in South Phoenix, aged 14 to 19. Our participants reflect the rich cultural diversity of the community, with 90% identifying as Latino. While the majority are male, we’re excited to see a growing number of female students joining and excelling in the program.
Success4Kids continues to inspire and empower young people by offering them opportunities to build confidence, foster teamwork, and achieve personal success. Together, we’re creating a stronger, more resilient community.
